The first trees in the park were planted by Antun Janković around 1762. The park grew in parallel with the construction of the baths, and today it contains 60 different species of plants. The park also features a fountain with a bronze sculpture – Augustinčić’s “Bather” from 1927. The spa park has the stylistic characteristics of Baroque (with elements of historicism and English landscape style in garden art) and is protected as such. The park contains buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, numerous baths and villas that complete the content of the spa park.

In the immediate vicinity of the central town square and Daruvar Spa, there is a natural and healthy park-forest, or Roman Forest. The Roman Forest is rich in diverse plant and animal life, which inhabits an area of 20 hectares. It also houses the Jewish Cemetery and Julius Brum (Julius’s spring – the spring of love). The interior of the forest is decorated with marked and gravel paths and benches for resting. It is used by recreational runners, passers-by, and walkers, and the forest area also represents the beginning of hiking routes.

Bjelovar-Bilogora County is a green oasis ideal for hikers, explorers and other nature lovers. This also applies to its cities, which are full of parks, avenues of trees and green spaces where you can enjoy nature. Bjelovar itself was adorned with an avenue of linden and mulberry trees planted in 1756, when the construction of the city’s military fortress began, and which over the years has grown into the main city park on the central Eugen Kvaternik Square, in the center of which the Music Pavilion, the largest stone pavilion of its kind in all of Europe, proudly stands.

It is also worth mentioning the Borik Memorial Area, which is adorned with evergreen trees, a memorial cemetery and a monument to the famous Bjelovar sculptor Vojin Bakić. There are also playgrounds for children as well as walking or jogging trails. Between Borik and the city center is Radić Square with a park covered with beautiful shrubs and deciduous trees, which is often called the park of love. You can also find a breath of fresh air before setting off on your journey by the bus and train stations on King Tomislav Square.
