ORGANIZED PILGRIMAGES IN CROATIA
The Brotherhood of St. James is organizing three pilgrimages as part of this pan-European initiative on June 21:
DONJA BATINA – MARIJA BISTRICA (14 km)
Holy Mass in Marija Bistrica at 9 a.m. Organized transfer to the Chapel of St. James Donja Batina. Walking begins at 10:30 a.m.
OVČARA – VUKOVAR (15 km)
Start of the walk at 7am from the Ovčara Memorial Center to the Church of St. James in Vukovar
JOSIPOVAC – OSIJEK (15km)
Start of the walk at 10am at the church in Josipovac
Note: be sure to bring sunscreen and at least 2l of water
We invite all participants to pray the Rosary for peace during the pilgrimage. Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV have repeatedly called on the faithful to pray the Rosary for peace in Ukraine and in all parts of the world affected by war. Following this call, we offer this moment of prayer as part of our pilgrimage — to all who wish.
“Mary is the Queen of Peace. We ask her to intercede for peace in Ukraine and in all countries affected by war.”
WHY WE WALK
The Camino de Santiago — the first European cultural route — has been uniting the peoples of our continent for 1,200 years through more than 80,000 km of routes through 29 countries. The Camino Podolico in Ukraine is part of the same European network. Today, Ukraine is under attack, suffering and still standing firm.
We walk for peace, freedom and human dignity — values that are at the heart of the European heritage and tradition of the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago)
