The Camino Gorski Kotar begins in the picturesque town of Vrbovsko. Starting from the town center, the route winds through peaceful forest paths and rolling hills. A combination of gravel roads and hiking trails leads to a steeper ascent toward the Lovnik hunting lodge. From there, the trail becomes easier, descending toward the village of Lukovdol—best known as the birthplace of renowned Croatian poet Ivan Goran Kovačić. The village is home to a memorial museum dedicated to his life and work, which is well worth a visit. Not far from Lukovdol, the Krizmanić family farm offers a warm welcome, serving traditional dishes of the Gorski Kotar region, with accommodation available nearby.
