Osijek lies in eastern Croatia, in the heart of Slavonia, and is accessible year-round by various means of transport.

By Plane

Osijek Airport is an international airport located near the village of Klisa, along the D2 state road connecting Osijek and Vukovar.

From the airport, travelers can continue to Osijek by car or local transport.

 

By Car

Osijek is well connected via major European road corridors:

  • From the west and east:
    Ljubljana – Zagreb – Slavonski Brod – Osijek (via A3 motorway and A5)
    or Graz – Maribor – Varaždin – Osijek (via D2 state road)
  • From the south and north:
    Bosanski Šamac – Đakovo – Osijek – Beli Manastir – Budapest (via A5 or D7)

By Bus

Osijek is connected to destinations across Slavonia and the rest of Croatia through regular bus lines operated by Arriva.

By Train

Passenger rail services in Croatia are operated by HŽ Putnički prijevoz.

From Osijek, direct trains run to destinations within the Osijek-Baranja region and to cities such as Zagreb. With short transfers, connections are available to other parts of Croatia, including the Adriatic coast.

International travel by train is possible:

  • to Budapest (via Beli Manastir and Pécs)
  • to Belgrade (via Vinkovci)

By River Cruise

Osijek is also accessible by river, located near the confluence of the Drava and Danube rivers.

Cruise ships arrive:

  • from the north via Budapest and Mohács
  • from the east via Belgrade, Novi Sad, Ilok, and Vukovar
