We are in a green environment, on a playground, in front of the entrance to the forest. The beginning of today’s Camino trail is also the beginning of the newest hiking trail “Polakova staza”. When you pass the playground at the bottom on the right, you enter a narrow forest path. Along the path, follow the asphalt road on one side on the left, which the trail will return to. You will walk on the asphalt for a while and pass a ramp, which is temporary and most often raised. If it is lowered, simply raise it and close it again, it is not locked. As you continue walking along the asphalt road, signs on the wood and on the asphalt will appear in front of you, directing you to re-enter the forest path on the right. This is where the adventure begins😉 you will pass over a small improvised bridge and begin the climb of about 200 m. Extra caution is required during rain. The path is winding to make it easier to overcome. With a slow and careful step, you will soon be at the top. When you rest and your heart stops beating😉 you will notice what a wonderful path lies ahead of you. You are in the heart of the forest and can now enjoy the path ahead of you. A leisurely walk through the forest will recharge your batteries😁.
When you leave the forest path, you will find yourself at a turning point and on a forest road. The arrows will direct you straight. You have about an hour’s walk to the mountain hut, the turnoff for “Stankov vrh”. Along the way, you will pass several “checks” and feel free to climb one of them. At the end of this road, you will come to a wider, unpaved road that leads you to the right along the Camino path. The signs are on the trees. You walk for a short while longer and on the left is the mountain hut. The Camino path is on the right. But here you have the sign “Stankov vrh” 500 m to the left. It is definitely recommended to visit it, even though you got the stamp from Polak in Draganovac. “Stankov vrh” is a special peak, from which you will not see or experience any spectacular view (we saved that for later), it is the highest peak of Bilogora, a slight elevation in a vast, spacious forested and slightly hilly landscape. At the highest point of 309m there is a stone pillar and several benches where you will rest. If you want, you can also get a mountaineering stamp in your passport at this place. When you have visited “Stankov vrh”, return to the mountaineering house and continue the Camino straight, continuing to follow the signs on the trees. At one point you will come to an asphalt road and several houses and cottages will come towards you. When you leave the town, you must turn right towards the hunting lodge “Draganovec”. The signs direct you well to the right, but if you happen to have reached the main road, go back a few steps. The hunting lodge will be on your left, there is also a clay pigeon shooting range. You enter the forest road again into the forest. Although you will be in the forest of side paths, you walk straight on the road, the signs are still on the trees. Exiting the forest you are treated to a beautiful view of the nearby hills and there you follow the sign that leads you to the left. You descend along the road to the main road. Now walk along the road for about 200m to the right, until the Camino turns you to the left, again onto a gravel road. Soon turn left again. On the left you will see the main road, the forest and the path you took down from the forest. Soon we head right, gently climbing. You will pass by several weekend houses and continue along a beautiful path through the forest. At one part the path will widen again to the forest road and here you follow the signs to the right and at the “Olimp” signboard turn right again. A few weekend houses and you will come to a place where a spectacular view awaits you. On the left, the mountain you see in the distance is Kalnik, and the view to the right is breathtaking. The first thing you will see is the path you came on, the hill opposite. Koprivnica is literally in the palm of your hand and if the weather is nice you can see Hungary. You can also see Molve where you were the other day, and other parts of the Camino Podravina that you passed. When you were enjoying the view of the landscape, you look where you are standing. I’m sure you are on the roof of a house, if you don’t believe me, check😉 .
Continue straight along the path to the crucifix, and continue straight. On the left side between several cottages you can once again enjoy the view of Koprivnica and part of northwestern Croatia. Although you are surrounded by cottages, the road will disappear and you enter the forest on the right along a narrow path. The descent begins along the path and continues through cottages, or huts. You should be careful not to slip if the grass is wet. You will come to larger stone slabs on which you continue to descend to the road. When you reach the road, turn left. You are in Starigrad. On the left side you pass the PRC. This is a Podravka restaurant where you can have some refreshments. The Camino trail continues straight through the settlement of Starigrad, along the houses. Then turn right to reach the Church of Blessed Mother Teresa. It is a modern church and the only parish in Croatia dedicated to this saint. You can get a stamp in the church. When you leave the church, go right on the road towards the settlement of Reka. The part ahead of you is on an asphalt road and it takes you less than an hour to complete today’s section.
When you enter Reka, you pass through the settlement and the Church of the Holy Trinity awaits you on the left, as well as a stamp.
