The Camino Zadar pilgrimage route begins with the continuation of the Camino Šibenik in Pirovac.

The road continues above the village at the foot of Banjevac and continues to the left towards Vrana.

The Camino Zadar pilgrimage route begins in Pirovac, seamlessly continuing from the Camino Šibenik route. This picturesque coastal town is the perfect place to prepare before embarking on a new pilgrimage journey. The starting point is the town center, where pilgrims can visit the Tourist Office to collect their pilgrim passport and receive their first stamp.
The route initially crosses the Adriatic Highway before winding through the town via a small alley. Turning left, the path leads inland, gradually transitioning from paved roads to a gravel trail that descends past olive groves and a few scattered houses. Soon, it reaches the cemetery and the Church of St. Anthony, where pilgrims can pause for a moment of prayer and reflection in the peaceful surroundings of this historic site.
Continuing along the gravel path, the journey meanders through olive groves framed by dry stone walls, a defining feature of the Dalmatian landscape. The next stop is the village of Kašić, an authentic Dalmatian settlement rich in tradition and warm hospitality. Beyond the last houses of Kašić, the route follows gently rolling terrain, passing the Donji Kraj children’s playground in Zadar County. This section offers welcome moments of rest in the shade of pine trees before the path leads onward toward Vrana.
The pilgrimage route then follows a macadam road through small hamlets, occasionally intersecting with local asphalt roads, offering glimpses into the traditional way of life in this region. This stretch provides a peaceful walk away from traffic, accompanied by the sounds of nature and the scent of Mediterranean herbs.
As the route nears Vrana, it leads to the small Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the hamlet of Kneževići. This modest yet significant church offers pilgrims a quiet space for spiritual reflection. From here, the path continues into the heart of Vrana, a historic settlement best known for Maškovića Han—an impressive 17th-century Ottoman building, now transformed into a charming hotel.
Vrana also provides an opportunity to stock up on supplies at the local shop and enjoy a well-earned rest after the first day’s walk. The first stage of the Camino Zadar pilgrimage route concludes here, leaving pilgrims immersed in the rich history and serene atmosphere of this remarkable place.

Accommodation availability between and at the end of this recommended daily route is limited.

Some pilgrims choose accommodation at one destination on the Camino Zadar route and use local taxi services to get to and from the daily stages.

When you leave Pirovac, you have the option of apartment and hotel accommodation in Vrana. On the way to Vrana, apartment accommodation is available in Kašić.
