After walking the Camino, sister Catherine from Ireland noticed a pilgrims need for reflection on the Camino experience. With that mind she started a program known as the Camino companions. It is open to all who are looking for help in articulating and discovering the deeper spiritual meaning of their Camino.
The program itself is not overly complicated, there is a lounge at the pilgrim office at Santiago de Compostela, where twice a day, pilgrims are welcomed for tea and cookies. They are provided with an opportunity to express their thoughts and questions they might have. The volunteers are there to listen and to help pilgrims discover what was the meaning of their individual Camino journey.
The program also uses poetry, through sharing of poems that encourage pilgrims to deepen their understanding of the spiritual gifts received on the Camino.
