Opening of the Camino section Daruvar-Grubišno Polje-Nova Rača
Get to know the city that was the capital of the Republic of Iassa in ancient times, and a famous patrician health resort in Roman times – Aquae Balissae, walk through its gardens and enjoy under the canopy of the oldest ginkgo tree in Croatia and one of the oldest in Europe. Visit one of the youngest Croatian castles, the popular Marijin dvor and walk along the gentle slopes of Bilogora. Return to your youth with Mato Lovrak, and find spiritual refreshment in our Diocesan Marian Sanctuary.
INFORMATION AND PROGRAM
Day 1, Saturday, Daruvar-Grubišno Polje, 27km
From 07:00 in the Croatian House building in Daruvar, gathering of participants, registration and breakfast.
8:00 am joint Holy Mass in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Daruvar, after which there will be a blessing of the Camino pillars.
After that, our Camino starts, where we will visit the castle of Count Janković, pray and light a candle in the park at the monument to the defenders of Daruvar, and through Julijevo Park, past the lake, we will set off for Dioš, where we will visit the castle there. From Dioš, the route takes us via Ivanovo Selo, where we will have lunch together, towards Grubišno Polje, where we will visit the Memorial Room of Croatian Defenders and end the day in the Church of St. Joseph, followed by a joint dinner.
Information on accommodation options for those coming from afar and intending to walk the entire weekend will be available later.
For those who have to return to Daruvar to pick up their cars or will spend the night there, transportation will be organized after dinner.
Day 2, Sunday, Grubišno Polje-Veliki Grđevac-Nova Rača, 25km
From 7.30 pilgrims gather and have breakfast together
At 8.30 joint Holy Mass in the Church of St. Joseph in Grubišno Polje.
On the second day of our Camino, in front of the church we set off towards the villa “Moj mir” where we will see the room of Ivan Nepomuk Jemeršić. We continue our journey via the Bar picnic area towards the Mato Lovrak Cultural Centre, where the enchanting world of a children’s book becomes reality with the “Train in the Snow” and the “Družba Pera Kvržica” mill. After lunch together we continue our journey towards Nova Rača to the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which has been declared a Marian Shrine of the Bjelovar-Križevci Diocese. After the final blessing and distribution of the Compostela, transport is organised for those who left their vehicles in Grubišno Polje.
NOTE:
- Meals and transfer to the car are free
- In case of bad weather, the Camino is not postponed, because we follow the saying “there is no bad weather, only bad clothing and shoes”
